DEFYING TRADITIONAL CONCEPTS

THROUGH DANCE

SERVICES

As an established chorographer I am able to create original works for the public such as: flash mobs, staged theatrical productions, weddings, and any other events that would benefit from the addition of a dance performance.

PROJECTS

Upcoming projects include the August 10, 2019 Body & Soul Dance Theatre performance of Ellipsis featuring 2 new works and 3 re-staged works. October 2019 will start the Workshop series offered to the public for performance debut of Baile del Alebrije at  the “Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera Masked Ball” for the NSU Museum of Art on November 1st and the Florida Day of the Dead Celebration's Skeleton Processional on November 2nd. As well as appearances throughout the community at local art events and festivals.

ABOUT ME

I began my dancing career in NY taking Ballet, Jazz, and Tap classes. When I moved to South Florida in 1985 I began training at the University Center of the Performing Arts. By the age of 8 I was performing in a company called South of Broadway. I attended Dillard School of the Arts. At 16 yrs old I began choreographing and my first works “Encounters” and “Wild Fire” were debuted at the Broward Center of the Performing Arts in 1994. While at Dillard I obtained scholarships to attend the New Arts Festival in Ft. Myers, The Florida Dance Festival in Tampa, and Alvin Ailey in New York. This allowed me to work with The David Parsons Company, Pilobolus, and the dance directors at New World, Mia Michaels, Reginald Yates and many other formative talents in the dance world. I continued my dance career at Broward Community College for 2 years. In 2000, I took over a dance class at Parkway Middle School. This inspired me to give rebirth to Body and Soul Dance Theatre where I could continue to cultivate the arts in Broward County.

I have stage managed and choreographed performances for the Boca Raton Theater Guild, The University Center for the Performing Arts, Art Serve, and have stage managed for Dance Now!, the Miami Gay Men’s Chorus and the rock band The Drive Home.

In 2012 I developed an after school dance program for the Dan Marino Foundation. This is was a springboard for gaining funding for projects that started to debut in 2013 that brings awareness to individuals with disabilities by utilizing theater and dance to tell their story called Awareness- An Exploration in dis-ABILITY. This project is set to debut in smaller increments since it is an individual artistic endeavor with the release of an additional installment each year.
